A Gift of Fabric from Nana

I've become close with a lady my mom went to school with. We met after I emailed everyone in my mom's address book to tell them she was too sick to be on the computer. Then I started a blog at Mommycity.com to keep everyone informed on her progress right up until she died.

Nana and I have become great friends! She bought one of my Mother's Quilts with her grandsons' birthstones. She also made my mom a lap blanket which I kept. I made her a DPN case and put in a few sets of DPNs so she wouldn't have to drive 40 miles for them.

Yesterday I got a nice package from her! I am going to use most of these fabrics for knitting needle cases. I think the red/gold will go nicely on the red/green/gold CQ blocks I'm piecing.

Stash Enhancment Expedition...(S.E.X. as the yarn harlot says)

Leslie and I went yarn shopping after knitting Wednesday. I got all blues...some at the Yarn Outlet on 8th St and some at Hobby Lobby. The red I got Saturday at Knitters Kove. Too much fun!
The cotton yarn is for thr Lion Brand knit along of this cabled tunic...the red is for a purse for Mike's niece and I don't know what the rest is for...maybe just to look at!

Another Beautiful Day In Colorado

I got a lot to do today. My TO DO list is a mile long :o....good thing the weather is nice for my jaunt downtown. I will be paying bills, going to the libray to pick up some holds that came in, mailing some stuff and going to the courthouse to see what happens to Mommy Kim this time...will she pay her child support or will she get slapped on the wrist again? (I think we all know she'll skate out free and easy as usual but on the off chance she gets cuffed and stuffed I want to be there)

I should call Cheryl and ask if she wants go go...nah too late now I should have done that last night...argggggh!!!!

A Work Scarf for Jack

I have a great husband, Jack. He can cook, clean, fix cars and stuff around the house. He works hard for his money and love him to pieces!

Last Friday he got snowed out of work. I had asked him before to go to the yarn shop, Knitter's Kove, (omg one of my most favorite places on earth!!) to pick out yarn for a cabled riding jacket I want to make. He really didn't want to but since he wasn't doing anything else, he agreed.

Once we got inside he was MOVED by all the yarn...he turned around in a circle looking at it, touched different skeins to see what they felt like and basically got caught up in the beauty of it all. (I know how he felt. That happenes to me all the time) Finally he said, "I need a scarf."

Huh? You're actually asking me to make you something?!?

He really did want a a scarf! He's asked me to make things before but for other people, not him.

We talked about color, size and feel and I asked him if we could shop my stash for yarn because we weren't finding what he wanted there in the store . (I promise to buy the yarn for the cabled riding jacket there...we both agreed on a greyish blue wool mohair blend for that)

When we got home I grabbed a couple of yarns I had stashed, let him feel them (they had to be SOFT), got measurements and did my swatch. He fely it and decided it was a good weight and feel and gave me the go-ahead.

After I knit a few rows I realized I probably wouldn't have enough to finish it so when we went to Hobby Lobby I grabbed a couple of things on sale to add to it. I ended up not using one of them...too GIRLY!! But all in all I am very pleased with the results...It's gonna be spectacular AND warm!!!!

PS I took it to knitting group with me and got their nod of approval...I told Jack his scarf had woman knitter cooties on it from all the fondling :)

Greeting From Dances with Pith Bulls aka Crazy Rebecca

Hi...my name is Rebecca but you can call me Dances. Dances with Pit Bulls. Yep, you heard me right...I took that name after a pit bull I had back in Illinois "danced" with me in the yard like the wolf "danced" with Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves. Before that I was Crazy Rebecca, because I ran a website that sold crazy quilt supplies and fabrics. I'm still kinda in that line of work so I reckon you can call me Crazy Rebecca too.

I have had blogs in various places for about three years now (http://blog.myspace.com/danceswithpitbulls http://www.mommycity.com/our-users?user=dances & http://www.artwanted.com/artist.cfm?ArtID=31825&Tab=Blog ) but I needed one with an RSS feed to put on my Ravelry.com page. (That's a cool community site for knitters and crocheters...come join the fun!)
I started blogging in earnest at Myspace after my stepkids decided it was their sole mission in life to drive me insane. Well, that and the fact that I moved 1200 miles away from my family and wanted them to know what was going on and so I could show them the mountains here in Colorado. Now it's going to be a place for me to showcase my artistic endeavors and again to let friends and family know what's going on here in Colorado Springs.

Welcome to my world!
