Joeseph's Crazy Quilt

My friend Joseph out in California (somewhere near the Mojave Desert... I hear it's hot there) is an artist extraordinaire.I made him this quilt after asking him what colors he wanted. His reply...Yellow, Scarlet, purple, turquoise. OK Joseph, how did I do?

The MOTHER'S QUILTS

  • I have been obsessed with birthstone quilts for about 5 years now. I used to sell birthstone kits on Ebay even. Now I just want to do these Mother's Quilts (and a special project running amok in my head...more on that later) The first picture is my fabric choices...
  • January- burgundy for Garnet
  • February-purple for Amethyst
  • March- light blue for Aquamarine
  • April- white for Diamond
  • May- dark green for Emerald
  • June- ecru for Pearl
  • July- red for Ruby
  • August- light green for Peridot
  • September- dark blue for Sapphire
  • October- pink for Tourmaline
  • November- golden yellow for Topaz
  • December- turquise blue for Turquiose

Can you tell the months represented on these samples?

The first person to get them ALL right will win a Mother's or Grandmother's quilt (the quilt on the left in the the pic with two quilts is a Grandmother's quilt...the big block is the daughter and the little blocks are the kids) with their choice of months (up to 5)

Blogger Quilt Festival

Leslie told me about an online quilt show. Since she suggested this quilt I am showing it again.

I made this quilt from one of my crazy quilt kits I sell on etsy.com. I have been attracted to pirates all my life, even more so after the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean series...oh Captain Jack Sparrow...come take me away. This wall quilt is about 18" x 30" and has all sorts of pirate booty for embellishments. Click on the picture to enlarge. Then scroll down to see some of my newest crazy quilts!

Me At the Quilt Guild and Walking with Silas

I thought I'd include a serious picture of me for once (You know instead of one of me in a doofy hat :P) Cheryl took this one at quilt guild Wednesday morning.

The other picture is my neighbor, Silas. Silas is two and he and his mommy and I went for a walk Wednesday evening. He's a sweetie for sure!

Right now it is it SNOWING like a mo fo again. *sigh* one of these days it will be spring for real and I can plant some seeds out in my garden beds.

I WON at Quilt Guild ! Woooooooooooo!

One of the best things Leslie has done for me (just one of them mind you, there are many xoxox) is sharing her quilt guild with me. It's a lovely bunch of talented ladies, it is, it is.

I wanted to join her Block of the Month thingy this time as I missed March's Celtic Knot (Btw Leslie, someone showed a quilt top with those blocks she won after you left yesterday). This month it was paper pieced Aspen Leaves. She kindly gave me the correct colors as I didn't have any in my stash.

After a rocky start of wrong cutting and removing the paper when I should have left it on I finally got it right. Then at the guild meeting Leslie gave me her draws too (so my name was in 4 times lol) A darling little tow-headed girl pulled my name out and I won! now I am the proud owner of a bunch of leaves:| Don't worry I already have a plan although I'm a little afraid the quilt police will not like it hahahaha!

I took my quilts and kits. The surprise sleeper hit of the day was the red/black/silver Goth Skull quilt. I asked Cheryl if she thought it was the placement of the quilt which was at the end of the table that everyone saw first or if the quilt was really that special lol! Experiments on that will follow.

What Color is Your Rainbow?

I found this on another blog...

Your rainbow is strongly shaded red and violet.

What is says about you: You are a passionate person. You appreciate beauty and craftsmanship. You get bored easily and want friends who will keep up with you. You are patient and will keep trying to understand something until you've mastered it.

Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

New Crazy Quilt Samples (Mmmmm Chocolate!)

Busy busy Becky...My chocolate box quilt is really purdy. Thanks to Margeret for suggesting it! The pillow is for my landlord and the elegant brown, gold, teal was inspired by Pat Enos whom I sat behind at the Kingdom Hall one night.

More than One way to Skin a Cat

I decided the Eating-of-pictures that occurred Monday might actually be a blessing in that I now have several days worth of posts I can do by re-posting two pics at a time. (Of course I am assuming the pictures will actually show this time, which I won't know until I click the publish button)

So anyways..........the fabric bundles are the purple/silver I cut for my 2009 color forcast line and the blocks are the ones inspired by my friend Pat Enos.

I went hiking in Palmer Park with Vickie Coletta yesterday. I left the camera sitting on my cutting table after showing her my work. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! We are planning on hiking quite a bit this spring/summer so I hope I'll have pics next time.

I am NOT a slacker (I just play one on the Internet)

Yo people! Lest you think I have been slacking off in my absence from posting and other online activities THINK AGAIN!

Here's a short list of what I have been doing...I will try to name the pictures in order.

#1) Working on Leslie's Ravens and Roses Moley for the IME. Not working on the hat as I don't "knit hats for sailors for Lent":P

#2) I cut purple and yellow for art quilts

#3) I cut purple and silver/gray after an extensive search told me these will be hot colors for 2009

#4) Sewed blocks inspired by a friend's outfit. She better not sit in front of me again wearing it. I might cut it right off her back >:)

#5) Gathering all extra blocks sewn from remainders of my kit samples for possible sale at quilt guild or on etsy.com

#6) Working on the Celtic Autumn kit sample inspired by the trims and fabrics from Leslie

#7) Knitting on my Cable Luxe Tunic

#8) Working on a doofy hat in the darkest blue for my dancing buddy, Babs (I love you smookums xoxoxoxoxxo no it's not for Warrin... it never was... it was always for you you you)

Well I tried this twice. I have no clue where the last 6 pictures went. I guess blogger ate them. Maybe another time or maybe I'll follow Christina's lead and find somewhere else to blog
