Diary Colorado Style 249/365

There's a certain phenomenon out here that either freaks you out or fascinates you. I even saw it on "If Walls Could Talk" on HGTV once. It's the carving of names, dates and so on in the bark of aspen. It scars overs leaving a permanent message. A couple of days ago I found this tree.

I cropped it a bit and am using this bit to tell friends and family how I feel...

Here are some other examples I have gathered over the years

Wondering how I will tie in my 365 pic? The bulls on this tree is me. The top symbol stands for my friend Jaine from England who visited us in July 2007
I go back every fall to check on it

Looking for Sticks 18/365

This story took place about a month ago. We went up Rampart Range Rd to look for sticks for our business. I didn't realize that there were no stands of aspen till about the 10 mile mark...past the now defunct shooting range. It was a glorious day to be in the timber! Guess who found the most sticks? Guess who isn't the picky one? Jack has a good eye but he's more "discerning" so I was the winner again with 4 useful pieces of wood.

Shown are some of the finished art (not from the ones we harvested that day) and a close up of the elk stick.

My 365 pic is my shadow....

Up to Pam's Cabin

Pam invited me to go see her cabin. How could I refuse!?! Great weather, sports car, free lunch...well wouldn't you go too? At Divide go right instead of left to Cripple Creek. Beautiful scenery there and back. The only bad thing is I got absolutely no work done today besides a load of laundry and a shower. I need to get busy and go water plants. ( o0O I wish we had seen a bear)

NEWS UPDATE!!! IT SEEMS THERE IS A WILD FIRE BURNING NEAR PAM'S CABIN. i SWEAR TO GOD I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!!!
