We got an order for a staff with a phoenix theme. I found a graphic online and adapted it for what I needed. As luck would have it we found a phoenix charm at Hobby Lobby too.

Did I tell you I used to work for some Italian guy in Chicago who is a blacksmith/fabricator? Well I did. I liked it except for the huge Italian egos floating around everywhere. This stuff at Territory Days brought it all back.

CQ Canvas Tutorial 257/365

Today I am sharing how I make my CQ canvases. They make stunning wall art!

Start with an 8x10 canvas or size of your choice. I got two for $3.59 at Michaels last week. I have used 11x14 in the past too.

You now need a CQ block that will cover the sides of the canvas. Mine was 10 1/2" x 12 1/2 "

Pick your trims

Embellish to your heart's content

Now you need to take a leap of faith! Spread some glossy Mod Podge on the canvas and center your block. Press down and start brushing glue on the top. It will dry clear. You must trust me on this!

Trim off excess fabric and added more layers of Mod Podge until it is as shiny as you want. Let dry between coats.

Hang it on the wall for all the world to admire!

Got this book at the library recently. It's one among about 20 I have by my chair and bed. I have been known to have as many as 50ish at any given time. Gotta love the blessed public library!

On another note... Dakota came home unexpectedly today. I am trying not to stress out about it. Only two months until school starts right?

Cheryl called me last night to see if we wanted to come up and shop the Glen Eagle neighborhood yard sales...uh YEAH! I did a little better this time, got some tops and some cool vintage fabrics among other things. Jack got some camping dishes (new in box for $3) and a toaster lol.

Diary Colorado Style 249/365

There's a certain phenomenon out here that either freaks you out or fascinates you. I even saw it on "If Walls Could Talk" on HGTV once. It's the carving of names, dates and so on in the bark of aspen. It scars overs leaving a permanent message. A couple of days ago I found this tree.

I cropped it a bit and am using this bit to tell friends and family how I feel...
