The Great Glue Experiment ~ March CQJP

My offering for March for the CQJP is a block that has been glued, not stitched. At times I had my doubts which is why I don't have any pictures of the work in progress. Today I finished it up while my computer was defragmenting the hard drive. Gluing things to within an inch of their lives helps with computer separation anxiety lol!

I used some autumn toned fabrics, watch bands that came in a jar of goodies from an antique store, an earring, plastic beads, vintage buttons, gimp braid, vintage trim and about 1/4 of a bottle of Tacky Glue. This will be decoupaged onto a book called Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All   by Allan Gurganus I bought at the library for $1 and will eventually become #3 in my Art Journal series.

A Post for Leap Year

I thought maybe I should post a few words just because it's a Leap year. Feb 29 doesn't happen all that often.

We about got blowed away today...wow... no wonder they build wind turbines around here!

Not much else went on besides me trying to get people to come eat Chinese with Sadie and me. Oh Oh...I know! I bought these lovelies from a gal from the same hometown as me...

Why in the world is purple so hard to photograph? I took about 25 shots to get this one and I'm still not happy with it. Oh well. Much prettier in person, as they say.

You Are Worth More Than Many Sparrows

Second in my Word Of God is Alive and Exerts Power series.

I used a cardboard box, pages from the King James Bible, a branch from the park, clip art, Mod Podge, glitter glue and candy eggs. I really like how it turned out!

I know it's not technically a sparrow but I needed the color lol.

Aspiring Artist

This past week my granddaughter, Sadie, helped me make an art piece for her PawPaw Benny. It's part of a body of work  I am doing called "The Word of God is Alive and Exerts Power" from Hebrews 4:12. I am using an old King James Bible that was falling apart. Stay tuned for more in this exciting series!

Lawyering UP

So I was in that wreck about a month ago, remember? Geiko Ins didn't handle it quite right and tomorrow I am getting a lawyer. Never had to get a lawyer for anything other than a will before. Should be interesting. If Geiko had followed through like they said they would I probably wouldn't have taken this step. Compassion and empathy goes a long way people.

More Photo Fun

Sorry about the delay in posting. The sickness I drug home from Chicago decided to revisit me and I've been kind of useless.
I bought some altered art supplies at Michael's yesterday and a Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. The mag had some websites to help you beef up your pics listed. here's what I did with one.

That's my new Steampunk skirt from ChicStar. I love it! I will be buying more from this awesome site.

A New Business?

So I have been thinking about doing some Old Time Photography with props n stuff (Heavy on the Steampunk of course) I have been busy gathering goodies for people to wear, props to hold, scouring ebay for photography items, talking with people who actually do this sort of stuff. I think it would be fun and I wouldn't charge an arm and a leg like the tourist traps do.

CQJP January Submission

Sometimes I can't think outside the box very well. I found a blank journal one of the vendors was giving away up at the energy conference and I decided it would make a great place to start the CQJP thingy....too bad I forgot to take a picture of the blank journal. (My brain still isn't functioning too well after the wreck. I am not physically hurt but mentally I am in shambles.)

Anyways.......... I covered the journal and now I think I will add all my upcoming blocks into it. I can glue a few pages together to make them stronger (something I learned from a book called Altered Art by Terry Taylor I checked out of the library). I can also keep a diary if I so choose. Wow.... a plan. Plans are good.

Why I was at The Fancy Hotel

Whoops I guess I forgot to explain about the fancy hotel. I was up there working the registration desk at a NetZero conference. Too much fun and money in the bank!

Fancy Hotel Videos Facebook Wouldn't Let Me Upload

Stupid Facebook. I have been trying for two days to get these videos uploaded there. No go. I wanted everyone to see the good time I had at the Conrad Hilton in Chicago.

I will try to get these in the order I made them.

Now Working On...

Two doilies, a cable luxe sweater in aubergine (that's purple for those of you not in the know), some embroidery on a weird hat I did and two pairs of socks (no pictures sorry).

 The furry hat is a blend of crewel wool all tied together and fun fur. It's cold, snowy and blowy out I should go try it on for size!

It Just keeps getting Better...That's sarcasm in case you didn't realize

So just when I think things couldn't get any worse....they do. Thursday Jan 5 I was a passenger in a car that got hit going 55 mph by a teenager who dropped her cell phone. Yeah, really.

Exhibit 1

 This is the car I was in. The seat belt locked when Sharie hit the brakes and the seat was scooted back so the airbag didn't get me. I am sore and angry but otherwise unharmed.

I'm glad to be alive. I'm glad to be uninjured. I'm still upset over the stupidity of this wreck though. Please don't say "It wasn't your time to go". I don't buy in to that. Time and unforeseen circumstances befall us all.... Eccl 9:11
