I spent the weekend with my oldest son and his awesome family. I forgot I had given his wife some of my doilies. Yay! This is a very old pattern, one that I made waaaaaayyyyyyyyy back in the 80's. I still have the original page. I'll make another one soon.

One giant doily aka Table cloth come room divider. I got this at a thrift store right down the road from me here in Rantucky for $12. Yeah, those are my ribbons, brag brag.

100 Days of Doilies Day 59
I purchased this at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for a whopping $.50. The center was once a table cloth or napkin.Love it. It has some wax on it but that's okay.

100 Days of Doilies Day 58
This doily isn't mine. Well, it wasn't mine, but it is now. It came with the mother load of thread I bought from a lady in Farmer City. No excuses now. Must crochet faster!

100 Days of Doilies Day 56 + WINNER!
This one I know I made. I got the pattern from a magazine at the Paxton Library back in the 90's. This doily lives on Darla's front room side table. Pardon the blurry picture. You know that doesn't happen very often with me!
The winner of the crochet motifs is.......... Marie! (However if I don't hear from Marie I will pick another name)

100 Days of Doilies Day 55
Darla says I might have made this one. Either me or her sister, Barbara. I'm thinking Barbara. It lives on Darla's kitchen Table.

100 Days of Doilies Day 54
Let's not debate, let's just go with it, OK? Technically edgings, you could use these as doilies in the right setting. Once again I am asking you to think outside the box with me.

I adore these little things with the sweet roses in the center! I gotta find something uber cool to do with it.
Vintage, unknown provenance.

100 Days of Doilies Day 52
Unfinished Doily of unknown providence (ETA PROVENANCE ty Leslie). I know it's unfinished because the ending loop was loose and I almost unraveled it when I went to iron it a bit for its photo shoot. (See the thread sticking up on the top? Yeah that's the former loose loop) Yikes.

100 Days of Doilies Day 51
I made this honeycomb doily back on the farm in Cissna Park with the vintage thread I scored in Rankin. It usually lives on Deanna's dresser. Should I give it back? If you could see the state of said dresser you'd say no LOL!

100 Days of Doilies Day 49
This sweet little pansy doilies came from a garage sale at a house in Henning Il I used to spend a lot of time at when I was a kid. I bought it from a gal I hung out with in Jr High. She was blonde and gorgeous and I was skinny and buck toothed. I guess she liked me because I had the approximate same IQ as her LOL!

100 Days of Doilies Day 48
Have you ever done something crazy then years later ask yourself "What was I thinking!?!"?
Case in point...this doily. Why did I cut it in half? I'm sure I had a good reason at the time but right now I sure don't know what it was. I'll have to come up with some other brilliant scheme for it.

100 Days of Doilies Day 47
This butterfly was probably made for a pillowcase. You could use it as a small doily. Yes you can, coz I said so. Look, just because it's not round or oval or square doesn't mean you can't use it. It would look great in a vignette with some other vintagey goodies. Now get back to work/knitting/cooking/gardening/collecting or whatever other important stuff it is that you do.

100 Days of Doilies Day46
This doily brings back bittersweet memories. I call it "Annie's Doily" because I made one just like it for a friend when she got married. She died of kidney cancer about 10 years ago. So sad.
On an upbeat note...do you like my big toe?

100 Days of Doilies Day 45
A long lace runner of a different color.
Whoever made this has a lot in common with me. Be brave, be bold, don't be afraid of color. Make do. Just do it.
I bought this for my Old Time Photo Booth which I WILL HAVE SOON!

100 Days of Doilies Day 44
This is the mate to the other square one I did for my mom but guess what? I had dye left over from the great food coloring experiment so now it's BLUE!!!! I love it. I love all my doilies, I really do.

100 Days of Doilies Day 43
This doily was made especially for the 100 days of Doilies Series. I traded a bag of wool for a bag of crochet thread that was heavy on the reds. Love it! Oh, and I finally bought a bottle of liquid starch to starch things out nicely.

100 Days of Doilies Day 42
And now for something unexpected. Yes, it's a Pineapple Panolpy pattern but WOW the colors!!!
I already had a white one. I have a green one. I wanted a DIFFERENT one.
I had to look up how to dye fabric with food coloring. It involved lots of vinegar. I dipped the center first in yellow then while the middle was soaking in red/pink I added the green then finished with blue. The yellow got some green in it so I dropped some more yellow on it straight from the bottle while it was drying and it looks orange. I love it!

100 days of Doilies Day 41
Ecru with Burgundy Border.
I tried to please all color preferences when I was making doilies in the 90's. Blue, mauve, burgundy, hunter green, peach were all popular. Now I just wish I could find a decent purple lol.

100 Days of Doilies Day 40
Little wee doilies.
I made these in the 90's.
I remember giving one to a boy in Deanna's class after he admired my work. He wrote me a sweet thank you note which I kept until recently. It was in a tin that did not make it back to me from Colorado. Oh well....
I also remember that same boy using the doily for printing in art class a few years later lol.

100 Days of Doilies Day 37
Pineapple Chair set.
This came from that garage sale in Colorado Springs that netted me several cool things for free.
I love everything about this. The color, the pattern, the thread weight.

100 Days of Doilies Day 36
Another square motif doily which may or may not have been mass produced. The thread is of a better quality than Chinese doilies are so maybe it's ok. (Please be ok, my heart can't take it if you aren't)

100 Days of Doilies Day 35
Irish Scroll Doily
Yes, I made this one! I made two. The other one is sewn on my very first crazy quilt which is packed away in the shed or I would show you. Wait , I think I have another picture of it some where....You can see it here...http://www.artwanted.com/imageview.cfm?id=503747. This link is supposed to open in a new window. The doily is on the bottom right of the quilt. Whew!
Made from heavy vintage thread.

100 Days of Doilies Day 34
Chinese mass-produced knit/crochet hybrid.
This disturbs me. It's all cute n stuff but the amount of work that goes into these things cannot be equal to what the people who make them are paid.
It starts off crochet, switches to knitting and then back to crochet. It's not machine made, it can't possibly be.
I am pretty sure this came from a shop in Gatlinburg, TN my mom worked at back in the 90's.

A Squarish Motif Doily
Thin thread, possibly vintage. Of the dreaded "unknown providence". I promise to keep track of all further doily purchases. Really.

100 Days of Doilies Day 32
Tatted Doily.
I can do a lot of things. I can quilt, sew, knit, crochet and embroider but I cannot tat. There, I admitted it. I cannot tat. I do however LOVE tatted lace. Love, love, love.
Of course I have no clue where this little doily came from. Thank you, whoever made it.

100 Days of Doilies Day 31
Not doilies but hand crocheted probably by my Great Gramma Karrick. Gloves!!! Tiny exquisite gloves! My sister found them in her attic during a recent purge. Yeah, I'll take those.
