Garden of the Gods Unexpectedly 89/365

I got invited to go to the Garden of the Gods today, an unexpected diversion and oh so fun!. We took the guided nature walk and I learned a lot of things I didn't know like.... why some rock formations are white (bleached by natural gas and oil when they were still horizontal in the ground)...How magpies need a nest with two hole to exit and enter (their tails are too long to turn around)...and why the garden was sacred to the Native Americans (a white buffalo rock formation). Too much fun even though the wind was howling beyond belief.

April isn't the Cruelest Month 180/365

"April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rains." T.S. Eliot

April has generally been good to me. My oldest son was born in April. April showers bring May flowers. Jack even tried to get me to play an April Fool's joke on the landlords. (Couldn't do it, I couldn't keep a straight face although I did fall for an April Fool's from the Independent, a free newspaper here in town)

I went looking for past April pics and came up with this one. Me and my BFF, Laura, at the Garden of the Gods, April 2008.

This picture also fits in with this month's NaBloPoMo theme of BIG...as in DANG! Them's some BIG rocks!

One of Those Days 164/365

Ever had one of those days where nothing went right? I had one today but somehow I am not depressed about it. I guess I have nowhere to go but up right? Here's me at the Garden of the Gods looking for sticks to use for our canes...nope...none to be found.
Did find some with interesting worming going on...now if I knew what to do with them.

Me and Jessica Garden of the Gods 73/365

Still no word from Jessica...hurry up and wait, story of my life. She did have a final and another photo shoot so I won't pressure her for pics yet.

Grabbed this when Leslie or Erin tagged me on Facebook.

Blast from the Past 52/365

I farted around and didn't get any good pictures of myself today so I am pulling one out of the vault. Go back to 2005...about three days after Katrina hit new Orleans. I was out here visiting Jack and retrieving Dakota from his summer with Mommy Kim. Jack took this picture of me at the Trading Post at the Garden of the Gods. Too pooped to hike one more step.

Oh to be At The Garden of the Gods Again 19/365

I'm frantically getting ready for the Craft Show tomorrow. A part of me wishes I was at The Garden of the Gods hanging out and taking pictures.

Jack and I went to Vera's for tables. After setting them up in the garage for a dry run I packed up what I could in the trunk of the car. I'll worry about pricing stuff tomorrow. Some of it is already priced anyway...like the quilt kits and fabric.

I'll be diversified that's for sure. I'll have knitted hats, scarves, fingerless gloves. I'll have beaded lanyards and bracelets. I'll have the crazy quilt wall hangings, kits, blocks, fabrics. I'll have the walking sticks. I even have a few doilies. *Shows off proficiency in needle arts*

I hope to get a lot of promo pictures if nothing else!
