Bead FAIL 191/365

Today I went looking for knit interfacing for my crazy quilt blocks as per the recommendations of several professional art quilters in my Yahoo groups. They didn't have it at Hobby Lobby so we made the trip east to JoAnn's. Ugh. I caved on the beads. They were just the shade of funky blue for my magnum opus* teal/peacock/gold quilt. It's like the Bible. God had the inspired writers tell of the bad as well as the good things that happened. This is my bad thing lol. At least I'm not melting them down into a golden calf.

I also needed  those plastic flowers for my quilt, I swear I did.

* Magnum opus (plural: magna opera, also opus magnum / opera magna), from the Latin meaning "great work",[1] refers to the largest, and perhaps the best, greatest, most popular, or most renowned achievement of a writer, artist, or composer.

You and Tequila Make Me Crazy 187/365

Here's something I haven't done on this blog but I used to do a lot on my Myspace blogs...post a song I am learning with lyrics and chords. I present for your approval Brad paisley's You and Tequila

You and Tequila

Here I am again, kicking dust in the canyon wind

One more night might kill me, baby
A                                      {let the A ring, no strum}E
One is one too many, and one more is never enough

For 30 days and 30 nights, I've been putting up a real good fight

One more night might kill me, baby
A                                  {let the A ring, no strum}E
One is one too many, and one more is never enough

I am actually doing this to steer your attention away from the fact that I BOUGHT FABRIC at Walmart today...I needed it for the binding on my big 2012 CQ challenge quilt, the peacock blue one. I have the backing and border fabrics but I couldn't come up with a binding fabric from my stash. Yes, I bought it. It felt damn good too.

My Block in a Charity Quilt on Ebay 186/365

Remember back when I sent a block to Abby at Skull a Day for a charity thingy? Here's here blurb on today's blog over there.

The Skull Quilt Project: Relisting Unsold Quilts

Thanks to everyone that has participated in this project. Whether it be by making quilt squares, buying the finished quilts or spread the word about the auctions and project, all help is greatly appreciated by the Skull-A-Day crew and Becky's Fund.

I've relisted the quilts that haven't sold yet. The auctions will run for 5 days. You MUST have an Ebay account and a Paypal account to bid and pay for the quilts. You can follow the steps for set up, if you don't already have those accounts. For information on each quilt, please see the auction listing and info below. Proceeds from the sales of all of the skull quilts will go to Becky's Fund, which is a DC based organization that helps victims of domestic violence and teaches domestic violence prevention.

Here's the link to the quilt my block went into that is up for bid on Ebay.

Progress and an Unexpected Feature 184/365

I have been embellishing away on the peacock/teal/blue/gold Crazy Quilt Blocks.

In a surprise bit of accidental advertising, I got featured on an ezine yesterday. The Color Confidence is my blurb.

Posing at the Pioneer Museum 183/365

Rule #1...NEVER pass up a photo op!

Leslie asked me to go to the Pioneer Museum. I grabbed my trusty magic carpet bag full of steampunk goodies and said..."Let's go!" Changed in the restroom and went off in search of photo ops (coz you know I would never pass one up). The hard part was that no flash photography allowed. I somehow missed that little rule last time I was there....my bad.

Time to Think About Kits or My Next CQ Project 182/365

I started a new online store over at meylah.com.

 http://meylah.com/CrazyRebecca

They have a blog feature there and I used these pictures today:

Made me think I need to do some pillow and wall hanging kits. Or at the very least plan my next project. I am adding beads and buttons to my teal CQ blocks now. If I can keep up this pace I can finish this month.

Giving and Getting 181/365

Mary Beth messaged me on facebook with news of a yard sale score she wanted to gift me with. Ok who am I to say no to such enthusiasm lol!?! She arrived a little later with a box within a box...

Goodies upon goodies were inside the boxes...

I gave her the beaded purse I never quite finished. It needs a handle...her problem now lol.

The deer were in my side yard when she left. maybe she'll send me the pics she took.

Attack of The Fungus Amongus 180/365

Been a rather wet couple of weeks here in Colorado Springs. Need proof? My neighbor's flowers got attacked by mysterious mushroom colonies....ewwwwwwwwwww.

I pulled the nasty things off for her but the mailman said he thought they'd come right back. We shall see, we shall see.

Ikea Love (Or How I lost my Ikea Virginity) 179/365

When I woke up this morning I was an Ikea virgin. Not no mo'

Tall lady! Let the fun begin!

For $149 you too can point to Colorado Springs on a map in your very own home.

I want these lamps ($30) AND the glowing eye charts ($20).

We didn't get to eat any Swedish meatballs but we got our picture taken with a picture of them. man it was insanely crowded! The line for the cafeteria was wayyyyyyyyyyy tooooooooo long. We copped out and ate back in the Springs at California Pizza up at the Promenade at Briargate  or something like that.

Toasted Head wine (prop for wine rack)

Plush Pups with Personality ($20)

I ended up buying a bowl ($7), some stainless steel kitchen utensils ($5 for 4), cookies, chocolate bars, a silk orchid stem for Lillian, and Vickie's plastic utensils I held for her when she made a mad dash for the bathroom 3/4 of the way through the store and thus got lost till we paged her. A good time was had by all. I will definitely go back again some day.
