Necklaces from Other Necklaces #25 #26 #27 Extravaganza
Why do we keep jewelry that just doesn't work for us? I don't know- I give up. I took some necklaces I didn't wear and made ones I will wear. Behold the making of the new and improved necklaces:

Bead FAIL 191/365
Today I went looking for knit interfacing for my crazy quilt blocks as per the recommendations of several professional art quilters in my Yahoo groups. They didn't have it at Hobby Lobby so we made the trip east to JoAnn's. Ugh. I caved on the beads. They were just the shade of funky blue for my magnum opus* teal/peacock/gold quilt. It's like the Bible. God had the inspired writers tell of the bad as well as the good things that happened. This is my bad thing lol. At least I'm not melting them down into a golden calf.
I also needed those plastic flowers for my quilt, I swear I did.

Reworking Some Broken Necklaces 149/365
These necklaces were plain long beaded ropes more or less. I broke both of them with days of each other and they had been sitting on my desk taunting me ever since. Today I fixed both of them and I am quite pleased with the results!

Slogging Along 107/365
I have been working at the whole stash busting thing I swear I have! Too bad I actually had to do the domestic thing yesterday. I swept, cleaned the fridge, did laundry, sorted out my closet (I made a few really CUTE outfits from stuff I had packed away...love it!), and vacuumed. I sewed a block for Block of the Month at Quilt Guild. And of course I knit a bit.
I was going to use the yarn for a shawl but I thought I should do socks since I threw several pairs away after fighting the holes yet again. And OMG isn't the beaded bag coming along nicely?!?
The plastic marker is at the middle row. It's going faster now. I haven't worked on the pink one at all because I am having too much fun with this one.
I was afraid I was going to run out of darker beads since I used some on the Steampunk Altoid Tin (which I donated to the Steampunk Ball benefit). However since I am on the back side and moving fast I know I'll be OK.

Slacker That I Am 95/365
I missed some photo ops today because I managed to leave my camera in the wrong purse. Time was I would NEVER do that! I went to knit group with videoknitter and Leslie at the Yarn Outlet then to Mill Outlet for shiny threads, metallic needles and to look at boning for a corset and then to see a gal from quilt guild who actually made my stash look like it could fit in a suitcase! I have fabric envy. Serious fabric envy.
But I have no pictures.
My bad.
At least I can show you the progress on my knitted/beaded bags.Almost halfway done on the grey one and on the 4 bead row on the pink one. I bought a size 000 24" circular for the next one, which will probably be green. The small needle will probably encourage blindness but if that happens I have decided to be like Jose Feliciano and play guitar and listen to audio books all day.

Knitting with Beads 90/365
In a valiant effort to combine the using up of knitting materials and beads I am having a go at knitting a Civil War Era type purse. if it doesn't drive me insane it should come out quite fetching.
It's not as hard as it first appeared to be, just tedious. I am using size 1 needles because I didn't have 000s and cotton crochet thread because I don't have silk and five colors of beads because I don't have enough of any one color. Other than that...LOL!

Beads 71/365
Some fairly OK shots of PART of my bead stash. I need to think on a way to use these up in massive quantities.

Red and Green Altoid Tin 70/365
Well, I used a minute fraction of my red and green trims for this. If I did 10,000 more I should make a real dent. It took me an hour (Law and Order SVU episode, I timed it) to put the green and gold beads around the rim.

Helping me stay ON TRACK 25/365
Wow I dreamed I found a massive bag of purple/rose seed beads at a thrift store for $4.99. I was making every excuse in the book to buy it but in the end I put it down... Dang I'm strong!
Jack doesn't think so...when he saw me looking at the Hancock Fabric flier he demanded I hand it over LOL!

A Great way to Use Up some Beads! 16/365

Click to join stitchmap
I sorta belong to a group called StitchMap on yahoo. It's a Student/Mentor needle arts group. I say sorta because I don't have much time to devote to it. The list mama lives here in Colorado Springs and when she came by to deliver a prize I had won for my nominal participation last year she encouraged me to try the January challenge...making a brooch.
We signed up and got installment lessons. After you completed each lesson you uploaded a picture into a special folder and notified the coordinator who emailed you the next step. Here's my process and finished piece.
Very addicting. I'm making a smaller round one now.
The sheer fabric was supposed to be a part of the finished design bit I kinda had an incident with glue when I was putting it all together resultinging in having to trim it off . Whoops my bad.
