Snow Day or Hanging Inside Being Creative 43/365

Yeah so I've been basically trapped inside for two day. I don't particularly care for the crappy weather we've been having. It's OK, I have lots to do!

I cut strips for and sewed them back together for the scrappy flower liberated log cabin. I still have the borders to piece and cut. I wanted it to look very Grandma-like. I think I succeeded.

I made Jack some new potholders from a quilted denim piece my friend Laura bought at Goodwill when she visited. He had been bugging me for the skillet sleeves.

I actually finished the bracelet a few days ago. I really like it. I have enough beads and findings to probably do two more.

This pink wash rags/dish cloths are for Kelli's wedding shower. I have to write down a recipe on a 3 x 5 card for her too. That's coming up the 21st.

For those of you keeping score I have made 12 items in my 100 things-from-stuff-I-have-at-the-house challenge. I'll count the quilt when it's done.

Alone at Last 42/365

I got to have a day to myself today. Oh My good for the soul! I sewed and took a long hot bath and played my guitar and did some knitting. It went by fast.

Jack earned a hard $100 helping people move...ever been to that one park in Manitou? Not the one downtown but the one where they have the CommonWheel craft show? Next time you go look up on the hill behind the gazebo...THAT house...55 steps just to get to the first level. He's sore but he made some $$$ and some new friends.

Crazy Hat Lady 41/365

I had so much fun with the snow dance animation I decided to do it again with the hats.

Very tired today. I went with Pam and Cristell to Sunflower Market, Guitar Center for a new capo (I fully expect to find my red one now) and to Village Inn for pie and coffee. Then I met with another older lady in my neighborhood whom I might become a dog walker for. We'll see. I have to research a bit before quoting a price.

Jack got some work thrown his way finally. The landlord hired him to trim bushes and clean gutters and so on and then Vickie stopped by and told him about a moving job. He's happy to have something to do. (and he might be moving big African drums...how cool is that?)

I am patiently waiting for the Illini game to start. I can't watch it or listen to it but I can keep checking the score online. I didn't know Jeff Jordan re-joined the team! YAY!

Memorial Park Pool 39/385

I got to go swimming again today. Third time this year. More than I have been ever since about 2003. Here are a few pics of the pool area...my 365 is me in the hot tub.
The peak is a view from the back window.

It costs $114 for a three month pass to the pool/gym. It costs $150 for one trip to the DR. I might go for the prevention instead of the cure. This is depending, of course, on whether or not they close things like Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC)

I love this picture. Dakota took it the same day as the one of me and Jack I posted yesterday. I gotta hand it to that kid...he takes some dang good pictures of me lol!

I made another bracelet today. Working on a potholder. Oh and so Leslie can continue being blog fodder...I'm working on her sage green skulls hat!

Can Jack Cook? Why yes...Yes he can! 37/365

Leslie posed the question in a comment on my blog yesterday to the effect of "Is Jack the main cook at your house?" Not only is he the cook but I actually met him when he was working at his mom's diner back in Illinois. It's hard not to fall for someone when they cook ya tasty treats AND clean up after you .

I try to have supper on the table every night when Jack gets home from work but when he's laid off he IS the main cook. Even when he's working he does his share of helping in the kitchen especially breakfast and special stuff like pizza on the weekends. Here are a few pictures I've taken of him and his creations over the years.

Gift 36/365

My sister sent us a gift box. Jack got a chopper and a Paula Dean spatula, Dakota got a phone card and I got new blue turtleneck yay!

Spent the day recovering from being gone, knitting, cleaning, laundry.... blah blah blah. Maybe tomorrow I can accomplish something.

Note to self: check into craigslist for selling sticks n stuff...also jobs...need jobs....

I made it back from Denver but because my friend Pam is technically challenged I didn't get any pictures of myself like I had planned. Yeah I coulda done the self portrait thing but I was too busy being cool n stuff. So here's a blast from the past...me riding Jewel in Indiana April 2004. One of the best days of my life!

Hand 34/365

My hand is much better today after sleeping with the stinky drawing salve on it. I will give it another couple of days to keep on keeping on. I did manage to knit some last night while watching Project Runway.

Pulpit Rock 33/365

It took some doing but we finally found a way in to Pulpit Rock Park. We didn't walk all the way to the actual ROCK but we had a nice hike.

My hand is infected already :( It's no one's fault but my own for not wearing gloves. I had to call around to find a drawing salve for it. Ugh! Have you ever smelled that crap!?! And let me tell you, it's hard to knit, bead or sew with your right palm in searing pain. I think I'll go lay down and read for the rest of the day.

Just Another Day(or How I Tore up my Hands) 32/365

Ugh I think I over did the outside thing today! Leslie came over and dropped off some knitted stuff, yarn for her hat and some fabric . We talked beads and felting and as she was leaving she commented on my sad flower beds out front, all yukky and ugly from the snow and cold after being so purdy all spring and summer. I knew they looked bad so after she left I went in and asked Jack to help me tidy up a bit. Two large contractor bags later it looks a lot better, at least on the east end. I'll have to wait until my poor hands heal to do the west end! Who knew dried out cosmos and marigolds could be so vicious! My 365 pic is my foot from earlier this year...LOL! Body part self portrait again...*sigh*

Four Down 96 To Go 31/365

It's all about the jewelry right now in my challenge to make 100 things from stuff I have here at the house. I did the bead dangle bracelet for Pam (made $10 on it), the chain bracelet from Kyle's ugly necklace, a gold charm bracelet for me and the chain/charm necklace for me also. The chain came from a box of things my Aunt Karen passed on when they were moving in Chicago last year. I am counting that as my 365 pic...Becky's boobs and a new necklace :)

Wild Wild West 30/365

We were re-arranging some things yesterday and I found this picture I assumed was lost forever. We had it taken at Silver Dollar City near Branson MO in 2004. Isn't Jack handsome? The search is on for a hat like that.

I started another challenge for myself. I want to make 100 things to sell, give as gifts or just for myself from things I already have here at the house. This was inspired by the facts that:

A. I have no money B. I have no room C. Apparently I have no life LOL!

I have already made two things... a dangle bracelet for my friend Pam's daughter out of beads, headpins and stretch cord and a chain bracelet for my self out of an ugly necklace Kyle bought and left here. Pictures tomorrow.

Late Bloomers 29/365

Remember way back on Wednesday when we had snow? well guess what...it's been in the 60's and you'd be hard pressed to find snow anywhere except on the mountains or the north side of houses where the sun don't shine. I love Colorado LOL! These little flowers decided to bloom in a couple of my pots on the back patio and the hens and chicks still look good too.
