Goodbye to 2010...A Strange Year Indeed

Wow what a year. Seriously.

I spent most of the year is a feast or famine situation. How come I'm not skinnier since it mostly tipped over to the famine side? Only good thing about being poor was the Medicade. I got to the DR more times than I have since I was pregnant.

At least I got to travel. Ft Collins, Denver several times, Dallas, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana.

Jack got a great job and my business is steady and seems to be growing.

Now the Great Stash/ De-stash. Bring it on 2011!

Anticipation

It's almost here. It's so close I can taste it.

I am so looking forward to this challenge. I need the room.

Sneak Peak for 2011 Challenge

A little teaser for upcoming stash busting challenge. Example #1 is how I pull yarns together for a OOAK scarf or Hat and scarf set. I used an eyelash/fur type of yarn in teal/black/purple/gold and pulled colors to match from giant box of stash yarns (have more tucked away but gonna work from this box first) Not enough here for a hat but maybe another scarf.

In this pile we have more than enough blues for a whole set. I even have more of the soft fuzzy stuff at the top. This could be one for me lol.

More for me. Lace shawl or scarf in baby alpaca. OK one for me one to sell/gift.

Got beads, sequins and charms? Damn skippy I do! I am thinking this could be a  very productive year...geesh I didn't even touch on the fabrics!

Random Ideas and Thoughts

So I have been looking at a lot of 365 ideas (Thank you for tweeting about that zombie 365 thing Noah Scalin of Skull a Day and other cool endeavors) and I came up with one that might help me in my quest to get rid of creatively use up some of my stash. How about I document a new 100 thing challenge?

Actually, I might post more than once a day (I just read about doing that on another blog)...... And I  might make way more than 100 things.

Hey, what if the challenge consisted of tallying up how many things I actually make instead of counting to a set number? Of course the real challenge will be taking pictures of these things and posting on here. OMG I could give away a lot of the things I make! I am on a ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

Here's the reason for this challenge, lol. My goal get it under CONTROL!

I am still making up the rules...like "I get to buy stuff for custom orders" and "If I need actual sewing thread I can buy that" or "If Leslie gives me a bag of goodies I won't turn it down".

 What about "I will do a give away once a week" or "I will sell 2/3 on etsy and give the rest to friends and/or charities"?

Ohhhhh I love a new challenge, one I might be able to stick with!

Vintage Xmas Giveaway

2012 Crazy Quilt Challenge- The Beginning

My Yahoo crazy quilt group is doing a CQ by 2012 challenge. I need to get mine done by July 2011 so it can be in my quilt guild's quilt show at the World Arena here in Colorado Springs. at first I thought about doing burgundy/green/gold but then I decided on the teal/aqua/turquoise/gold blocks I had tried to sell earlier this year. I got some brown satin for the border so some of my embellishments will be brown. I am going to try to tone down the gold a little too. Should be spectacular if I don't say so myself.

 When I was downtown Tuesday I went to Holly Berry and bought some silk thread and some other stuff....$12.17 or so...odd because I already had a massive pile of threads and ribbons lol! I just can't stop adding to it can I?

So far I have about 5 hours in piecing the blocks and 1 hour in gathering beads and trims. I will try to keep track of embellishing hours by watching tv and working during certain shows. Sound like a plan...now I just need some bad weather to keep me home and in front of the TV.

365 days have come and gone, with only a few bumps along the way. I give you one last picture and a long goodbye........... I will return when I have figured out what I am going to do next.
