My Moleskine Journal Returns Home 97/365

About this time last year I joined the International Moleskine Exchange group on Ravelry on Leslie's recommendation. I bought a pack of three wee moleskines at Barnes and Nobles, decorated one  and put in my desired themes (music, aliens, stamps). Then I sent it off to Halifax NS to begin the magic.

"WTH is a moleskine?" you may ask

From the website moleskineus.com:

Moleskine History
For two centuries now Moleskine® (mol-a-skeen'-a) has been the legendary notebook of artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers. From gifted artists Henri Matisse (1869–1954) and Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), to poet and leader of the surrealist movement AndrĂ© Breton (1896-1966) to Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) considered the most influential writer of the last century, to famous travel writer Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989).
These notebooks have proven they can withstand the trials of travel and abuses that ensues from normal use. This is the one true trusted travel journal.

My little journal went on quite the adventure! It was all over the eastern United States, Canada  and in the UK. Now it's home with me again!

Here's a quick montage

Sunsets and Watercolors 95/365

I bought watercolors yesterday at Michael's on my excursion to Powers Blvd with Leslie and Erin. Here are my first attempts:

Primitive but acceptable. I looked for a Watercolor book at the Ruth Holly library branch but they didn't have any. I'll go to the PPLD.org website and place a hold on a few dozen.

Man it got COLD! I have a snotty nose again and I think I'll be turning in soon after a cup of hot tea.

But first my 365 and a picture of Miss Leslie who is also doing a 365 challenge over at Leslie's New Works and Thoughts. We caught the most spectacular sunset coming home. Truly a sight to remember.

High School Friends 92/365

I fought getting Facebook for about a year and a half. I finally caved thanks to a friend from grade school (points finger at Julie). I'm so glad I did! I have reconnected with a lot of old friends and family and tonight I just got added by one of my bestest friends ever and I got to add his siblings too. Ahhhh life is good and I am blessed.

Here's me trying to push one of my other best friends from high school off a cliff on Rampart Range Rd...just kidding, I would never harm Cheryl on purpose lol! Now if I could figure out a way to get her off work more so we could hang.....

All Hail the Queen! 91/365

We went to the new Burger King on Fillmore today. I had to get a crown after I saw a dad put one on his kid. Since I had slight 8 minute wait for my food (what's up with that?!?)  I read the "Laws of the Crown" printed on the inside. Ooooooooh I'm KING!!!!

Special thanks to fellow blogger Steve Bunche over at http://buncheness.blogspot.com/
for taking the time to type them all out a couple of years ago.

LAWS OF THE CROWN

GAME PLAY

A) Adjust size and be the first to place on head.
B) Whoever places the Crown on his or her head first, then in a loud voice proclaims “I AM THE KING” is from that moment in charge.

ADVANCED PLAY

1. There can only be one King.
2. The King always gets his/her way.
3. The King must speak with some kind of cool accent.
4. The King makes all the imperial decisions governing selection of TV channels. Movies, radio stations, as well as popular activities like snowboarding, pool hopping and cow tipping. The king also determines who gets the remote, who rides “shotgun” and, of course, who pays.
5. Rule ends when Crown is removed for more than 3 seconds (see Three Second Law).
6. Disagreement with the King results in a “penalty.” This is decided by the King. Common penalties include: forfeiture of fries, surrender of video game controller and banishment from office cubicle.

THREE SECOND LAW

The King’s rule ends when the crown is removed from their head for any reason, accidental or otherwise. The first person to exclaim, “ONE…TWO…THREE…KING” may claim the crown.

IN THE EVENT OF A TIE

If two people crown themselves King simultaneously, the person whose birth date is closest to DEC. 4, 1954 (date the first BURGER KING restaurant opened) is King.

COUP D’ETAT

If everyone agrees you completely stink as King, your rule may be renounced. This constitutes a Coup d’etat. A new King may be crowned if the group can reach a unanimous decision. If not, the THREE SECOND LAW applies.

KINGDOM

If you are eating in a BURGER KING restaurant, your rule extends all the way to the edge of the parking lot. Off restaurant grounds, your rule extends to a radius of ten feet around you in any direction.

WARNING: This BURGER KING Crown is made of paper. Your rule may end prematurely if Crown is exposed to water or flame.

Fare Thee Well 2009...you sucked 89/365

Nope...I'm not sorry to see this year go. I'm not holding my breathe for 2010 to be much better but it can't suck much more than this one did. But anyways.....Here's me and the last sunset of 2009:

And in the words of Robert Burns
(sing sweetly now)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my jo, for auld lang syne, we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot,
sin auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.

CHORUS
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
and gie's a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS

The Video Game Gene 87/365

I have it and so do all my kids. School holidays at our house were filled with Nintendo tourneys and a trip to the video store was for games more than movies. Right now I am playing on my PC but I still have a Nintendo 8 bit tucked away in the closet waiting to be brought to light in a flurry of Mario, Klax, Mega Man and Crazy Critters....Push up and Jump!!!!!

My favorite computer games right now are the shooting chickens in space- Chicken Invaders 3-Revenge of the Yolk, A puzzle game Da Vinci's Secret, a flower farming game Magic Farm-Ultimate Flower , Zuma, Cribbage and Insaniquarium (time trial mode). I will be getting a new one soon as I am a subcriber to Yahoo Games...what to choose, what to choose.

My 365 is me and my children back in April of 2008 (John, Gabe, me and Deanna)

I needed a picture...this is it 86/365

Wow what a day. Phone rang constantly all morning. I went on a Bible study over at Vera's. Jack and I went to the West Side to get groceries, kerosene and yarn (I know, I know but I didn't have the colors I needed for Leslie's hats...it doesn't count against me coz I make the rules here!) We even went to the HUmane Society to look at dogs and kitties even though the neighbor's cat came home finally (We had planned on going to see if it had gotten picked up by Animal Control) When we got home we realized we didn't feel like cooking so we went back to McNasty's for a cheap meal. Got a Redbox movie, Night at the Museum 2, and I sat and happily knitted through that and Antiques Roadshow...Now I am going to shoot chickens in space for awhile and hit the hay...carry on.

Some Good Ideas 83/365

This list has been floating around the internet for quite awhile. To whomever wrote it originally, I salute you!

1. Respect others, even if they don't respect you. Later in life they may remember that respect.

2. Love with your whole heart. It may be broken, but you can't say that you never loved.

3. Treat animals with kindness, and it will be repaid to you a hundredfold.

4. Be honest with the people you love. Honesty really IS the best policy.

5. Admit your mistakes; it shows you are human.

6. Learn from your mistakes, but don't dwell on them. Negative thinking will only make you depressed -- and that's not good for you or those around you.

7. Tell your family often that you love them. You never know when it will be the last time you get to say it.

8. Never tell others that their dreams are stupid or dumb. Each of us is entitled to our dreams. Who are we to say they won't come true?

9. Realize that the only person you can change is yourself.

10. Be thankful for everything you have. Knowing you are blessed isn't arrogant or cocky if you're truly thankful for your blessings.
