What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Oh that would have to be my blue and brown crazy quilt! It has been appraised at $2000.

Some of my Old Crazy Quilts 129/365

No horrible headache today, but no real crafting progress either. Here are two of my early crazy quilts.

This one caused quite a stir in my family. I used one of my mom's broken bracelets as a seam treatment and her sister, my Aunt Beverly, had a royal cow over it!

This one was made with African Kenta Fabrics. Is that how you spell it? It's been so long ago that I can't remember. It's hanging on Dakota's wall now but I am thinking about retrieving it due to his recent behavior.

These were made back before I learned the art of hand embellishing but I think they are still striking and the top one did win two ribbons at the fair. I don't think I entered the other one for some reason.

The Dreaded Put and Take Table at Quilt Guild 47/365

I passed a major test today at quilt guild. I only looked at the stuff on the table and I only reached out to touch one thing. I did not TAKE anything. I repeat I DID NOT TAKE ANYTHING!!!!

We had a wonderful presentation of antique crazy quilts. This was my favorite. It was made by one of the guild members' great grandmother.

I feel oddly inadequate.

CQ Canvas Tutorial 257/365

Today I am sharing how I make my CQ canvases. They make stunning wall art!

Start with an 8x10 canvas or size of your choice. I got two for $3.59 at Michaels last week. I have used 11x14 in the past too.

You now need a CQ block that will cover the sides of the canvas. Mine was 10 1/2" x 12 1/2 "

Pick your trims

Embellish to your heart's content

Now you need to take a leap of faith! Spread some glossy Mod Podge on the canvas and center your block. Press down and start brushing glue on the top. It will dry clear. You must trust me on this!

Trim off excess fabric and added more layers of Mod Podge until it is as shiny as you want. Let dry between coats.

Hang it on the wall for all the world to admire!

Capturing the Skull Quilt (not as easy as you'd think) 237/365

I had a comment on my blog yesterday about the CQ on my banner up there ^. I thought I'd show it in this post so I tried to get some pictures. hahahahaah! Fail Fail...give up and ask Jack to take it!

I used to have kits for this but they are all gone.

PTA Self Promotion Plan Worked! too bad no pic :( 216/365

I helped with the Staff Appreciation brunch at the high school today. In my haste to get things done I forgot to get a picture of myself. For shame, for shame! I donated the Autumn Crazy quilt sample for a door prize. The other officers of PTA decided it would be the GRAND prize and it got a lot of ooohs and ahs when it was shown. One of Dakota's teachers, Mrs. B won! Then another teacher talked to me about making her a quilt from some batiks from Bali she got on Ebay. Heck yeah! I sorta joined PTA in hopes of showing my work. So my evil plan has finally started coming to fruition. (Dear teacher who wants the Bali quilt...CALL ME!!! I'll make you a good deal and an awesome piece of art to go with the painting you bought. I have my earth tone fabrics waiting)

Here's the certificate I got for stepping up to be secretary...

Here's the quilt I sacrificed in the name of self promoting. It was fun having new people see my art.

StichMAP Mama and kiddos 23/365

I got to meet a new friend from the Yahoo StitchMAP (a mentor and apprentice program) group. Shari and her family were absolutely delightful and Shari is full of information that should benefit me in my crazy quilt business. I am blessed to live in this community! (Yeah like I didn't know that already!)

Scenes From The Craft Show 22/365

I'm still in shock after selling at my first craft show in years. I just realized I didn't get a picture of the walking sticks either...dang it!!!!
WE went grocery shopping yesterday and today I am doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom and knitting. Oh I also played guitar for my friends in camfrog for about an hour. That felt good.

Becky and the Chocolate Box Quilt 14/365

Here's me with my Chocolate Box CQ. The quilt show was a blast. Maybe next year someone will figure out how to advertise it and more people will come. I'll do a longer post showing the awesomeness of a room full of spectacular quilts at a future time. Gotta cut this short so I can get ready for day two.

At Last...the FINISHED QUILTS!

It was a long and winding the road, the trip to finish these damn quilts. Oops did I say that out loud? I didn't mean it...it just seemed to take forever and a day. Well, not Sharie's quilt. I actually whipped that puppy out quite quick. It's just that I told her I'd make it way over a year ago that made it seems so long. I will embroider the baby's name and birth date once she gets here.

Anyways, I think the effort was worth it. They are both gorgeous and I'll be proud to hand them over along with the Mother's Quilts and Joseph's Quilt.

The canvases are the ones I decoupaged for my nephew, Dustin. My sister cross stitched the little panels but couldn't understand how to glue them on artists' canvas...lol she sent duck canvas but hey that's OK! You know I don't do Halloween, but I think they turned out pretty good.

It's cloudy and raining. Jack is home because the job site was a mud pit. I can hear the AFA Blue Angels circling overhead in preparation for Graduation wednesday but I can't see them. I hope it dries up soon.

Joeseph's Crazy Quilt

My friend Joseph out in California (somewhere near the Mojave Desert... I hear it's hot there) is an artist extraordinaire.I made him this quilt after asking him what colors he wanted. His reply...Yellow, Scarlet, purple, turquoise. OK Joseph, how did I do?

I WON at Quilt Guild ! Woooooooooooo!

One of the best things Leslie has done for me (just one of them mind you, there are many xoxox) is sharing her quilt guild with me. It's a lovely bunch of talented ladies, it is, it is.

I wanted to join her Block of the Month thingy this time as I missed March's Celtic Knot (Btw Leslie, someone showed a quilt top with those blocks she won after you left yesterday). This month it was paper pieced Aspen Leaves. She kindly gave me the correct colors as I didn't have any in my stash.

After a rocky start of wrong cutting and removing the paper when I should have left it on I finally got it right. Then at the guild meeting Leslie gave me her draws too (so my name was in 4 times lol) A darling little tow-headed girl pulled my name out and I won! now I am the proud owner of a bunch of leaves:| Don't worry I already have a plan although I'm a little afraid the quilt police will not like it hahahaha!

I took my quilts and kits. The surprise sleeper hit of the day was the red/black/silver Goth Skull quilt. I asked Cheryl if she thought it was the placement of the quilt which was at the end of the table that everyone saw first or if the quilt was really that special lol! Experiments on that will follow.

Third Post of the Week (Woot)

Yep...I'm thinking the "eating of the pictures" was definitely a happy accident. Behold...day three of the catch up blog!

First picture is the extra blocks from the sample making. Second picture is the kit inspired by Leslie's fabrics and trims. She got to see them in person yesterday at knitting. They are beautimus!

Head on over to Mommycity.com to see my Cheyenne Mountain State Park pics and video.
