Here she stands getting ready to go to the last quilt guild meeting she got to attend. At least she's wearing her spiffy new apron she just made. I wish my daughter would hurry up and find that black top. I miss it.

Revealing the Masterpiece at Quilt Guild 222/365
I finished up the 2012 Crazy Quilt Challenge quilt! Or rather... I thought I did :|
I showed it at quilt guild and about 5 women told me I needed to do more with the border. As in quilt it. Uh yeah, no I don't think so. Not now at least. I just can't it's too much to think about. Maybe I'll use buttons and bring a little of the embroidery into two opposite corners. But seriously...quilt it? all of it?!? Vintage CQs weren't quilted. I side with Freddie and Gwen on this whole perfect quilt thing. Why does it have to fit someone else's idea of perfect?
Yes, it needs a sleeve and a label. Yes, the brown satin border paired with the backing didn't quite work but if I hadn't quilted in the ditch to satisfy some would-be quilt show rules it might have looked a little better. But no, I don't think I need to quilt the whole dang border. Now if someone had volunteered to do it.. for Free... maybe.

I had planned on doing a lot more sewing today but in all I was lucky to get these done.
The skull block is for SKULL A DAY'S Skull Quilt project to benefit victims of domestic violence. You still have time to make a 12" skull themed block. Here's the info:

This piece is one Leslie gave me awhile back (oh wow my font is red how cool is that?) I trimmed it up to 12" x 12" centering the skulls as best I could.
The last one is for quilt guild tomorrow. I only ended up with one small unmatched seam lol. Pretty good for me!
I had hoped to use up more stash. maybe next time eh?
In other news...we sold ANOTHER STICK! I am floored. Someone featured us in a treasury on etsy and it really helped get our product out there. We def need to go up to the mountain looking for sticks soon.

The Dreaded Put and Take Table at Quilt Guild 47/365
I passed a major test today at quilt guild. I only looked at the stuff on the table and I only reached out to touch one thing. I did not TAKE anything. I repeat I DID NOT TAKE ANYTHING!!!!
We had a wonderful presentation of antique crazy quilts. This was my favorite. It was made by one of the guild members' great grandmother.
I feel oddly inadequate.

Quilt Guild Day 109/365
Leslie picked me up early for the PPQG meeting. For the uninitiated that's the Piecing Partner's Quilt Guild.
Some people go to the meeting to see the quilts and hear the speakers.
Me- I go to eat and knit, grab things off the Put and Take table, and socialize.
But seriously, I did get up and share my story of the quilt I won at the Rossville Sesquicentennial last summer. Did you hear that story?
Cheryl had a bunch of frequent flier miles wasting away so she booked us a flight to Indy so we could attend the town we graduated from's 150th Anniversary. She was great- got the hotel, rental car, fed me and even bought me raffle tickets for the quilt they were giving away. Guess who won? That would be ME!
The quilt top was found in one of my favorite teacher's house, Mr Carl Hunt. It's estimated to be about 75 years old. One of my LEAST FAVORITE teachers, Mrs. Nancy Cox finished the quilt. Now I sleep under it every night. Luckily I don't have nightmares of GAA or PE class.

Make New Friends but Keep the Old 15/365

I had such a good time over the past few days at the PPQG Quilt Show. I got to work with several guild members, pick their brains about business opportunities, explain quilts, and best of all...meet new friends!
That's Julie in front of the blue quilt. She didn't piece it but she quilted it. She got laid off and went ahead and bought a long arm machine to try to make some $$$ doing what she loves. The pinwheel quilt is one she pieced AND quilted.
Next we have My BFF, Leslie, in front of her Fiber Pirate Art Quilt I told the story on it about 50 times at LEAST! The Stonehenge/Hale Bopp comet quilt is hers too.
My 365 pic o' the day is me and my new friend, Connie. We met on the Yahoo CQE list. She crazy quilts and does some awesome work. I hope to see her at guild meeting Wednesday.
And last but not least...I found out there really IS a quilt police...I just hope he never catches me mixing my cottons and my polys and not squaring up my blocks before sewing them togetehr!

Day 2 (so far so good)

Well I spent the day thinking about my picture. Pretty artsy-fartsy, eh?
I also spent a huge hunk of time working on my challenge quilt for quilt guild. It started out as a pictorial thingy but I couldn't pull it off so it morphed into something more my style. We were up in the mountains yesterday so we had to shop today and I found almost everything I needed at the 8th St Wal-Mart. (hint...MONKEY!!!) I'm still looking for the dreaded pinks-corals paint chip fabric. Gonna try a few places tomorrow. It's for the border so I can procrastinate a few more days on it.
Tomorrow I clean house (yuk) and maybe re-arrange the living room. Knit knit knit, sew sew sew....hopefully a little time for guitar too.

Me At the Quilt Guild and Walking with Silas

I thought I'd include a serious picture of me for once (You know instead of one of me in a doofy hat :P) Cheryl took this one at quilt guild Wednesday morning.
The other picture is my neighbor, Silas. Silas is two and he and his mommy and I went for a walk Wednesday evening. He's a sweetie for sure!
Right now it is it SNOWING like a mo fo again. *sigh* one of these days it will be spring for real and I can plant some seeds out in my garden beds.

I WON at Quilt Guild ! Woooooooooooo!

One of the best things Leslie has done for me (just one of them mind you, there are many xoxox) is sharing her quilt guild with me. It's a lovely bunch of talented ladies, it is, it is.
I wanted to join her Block of the Month thingy this time as I missed March's Celtic Knot (Btw Leslie, someone showed a quilt top with those blocks she won after you left yesterday). This month it was paper pieced Aspen Leaves. She kindly gave me the correct colors as I didn't have any in my stash.
After a rocky start of wrong cutting and removing the paper when I should have left it on I finally got it right. Then at the guild meeting Leslie gave me her draws too (so my name was in 4 times lol) A darling little tow-headed girl pulled my name out and I won! now I am the proud owner of a bunch of leaves:| Don't worry I already have a plan although I'm a little afraid the quilt police will not like it hahahaha!
I took my quilts and kits. The surprise sleeper hit of the day was the red/black/silver Goth Skull quilt. I asked Cheryl if she thought it was the placement of the quilt which was at the end of the table that everyone saw first or if the quilt was really that special lol! Experiments on that will follow.
